In what may be the largest outdoor event held in the city’s downtown since the pandemic began, more than a thousand techies and urban professionals gathered on May 27th downtown.
Tech Bloc, a local tech sector advocacy organization, hosted “Reboot Rally” from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, at Legacy Park across from the new Frost Tower.
This events' intention was to help re-ignite the tech industry in San Antonio that includes Def-Logix amongst other fast-growing IT & cybersecurity companies.
“We want to jump forward, spring forward - restart, reboot the engine, if you will, and signal to everybody that, with whatever comfort level they have, it’s OK to return downtown. It’s OK to live, work, play, learn downtown in the tech district again,” said Tech Bloc CEO David Heard.
As Heard mentioned, the pandemic took a toll on the momentum of the local tech scene in San Antonio, especially in relation to startup companies.
“It was more difficult to raise money. It was more difficult to get new customers, to come together to hire and meet teammates. And that’s really the heart of the tech district, is a smaller startup communities,” Heard said.
When it was all said and done, this rally reinforced everyone that gatherings, business, networking and growth are back in full-form which is exactly the level of optimism that everyone needed for the city of San Antonio.
